My mother Helmi (taken in 1930). Helmi means pearl in English, the most beautiful name in my mind. She lived to reach the venerable age of 91. I miss her.
Old photos are really art.

Mother's Days flowers in my garden in the morning.

They are in harmony, wild and cultivated.

Forget-me-not, my special favorites.

Bridal spirea, beautiful, but flowering a short time.

Last tulips.

Like stars on ground.

Apple trees are budding.

Bird cherries are coming into flower in our woods.
From the page:
"The Bird Cherry (Prunus padus; syn. Cerasus padus (L., Prunus racemosa Lam.) Delarbre) is a species of cherry, native to northern Europe and northern Asia, growing even north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. "

From the page:
"Helene Schjerfbeck (10 July 1862 to 28 January 1946) was a Finnish artist who has made her place in art history with her painting talent. Schjerfbeck's art paved the way for many other female artists. Throughout her eighty-three years of life her work changed dramatically.
Her work starts with a dazzlingly skilled, somewhat melancholic version of late-19th-century academic realism...it ends with distilled, nearly abstract images in which pure paint and cryptic description are held in perfect balance.
She is most commonly known for her realism and self-portraits, and lesser known for her landscapes and still-lifes. Schjerfbeck also worked with stilleben and portraits."
My favorite Finnish artist. (Some paintings below)

the Finnish War fought between Sweden and Russia 1808-1809 during the Napoleon Wars. As a result, Finland, the eastern third part of Sweden, was established as the autonomous Grand Duchy of Finland of the Russian Embassy. We got our independence from Russia in 1917.
